¿Dónde encontrar las mejores tapas?

tapas madridThe tapa, that simple concept that for some reason has not been picked up in other countries, enjoys extra protagonism these days in Madrid. Firstly, because of the celebration of the Tapa World Day, marked for September 29th, with dozens of establishments committed to offering homemade tapas plus a drink for prices around 2.50€.

The initiative is also celebrated simultaneously in 19 other Spanish cities and it is a starting point for another tapa promotion, the Devora Tapas route, the tapa devourer, which takes place in Madrid from September 29th until October 12th in the districts of Salamanca and Retiro. All in all, 52 establishments are taking part in it, and we are highlighting a few of them that are part of the Saborea Madrid label, which can be understood as a mark of quality.

Casa Patas, on Calle Cañizares, 10, (Tirso de Molina area) is a temple of live flamenco and a famous singing and dancing school. The excuse of the tapa can be used to discover this legendary spot and find out more about their flamenco shows at affordable prices, not designed to take as much money as possible out of the tourist’s pocket.

La Musa de Malasaña, one of the establishments of this interesting brand in Madrid, located on Manuela Malasaña, 18, is also part of the Devora Tapas route. With fusion cuisine that can see you order some green padrón peppers and Mexican tacos, the imagination of their menu is a welcome innovation. The place is pleasant, modern, warm and with bearded hipster waiters.

As our last recommendation, Elhecho Bar, on Calle Huertas. It is a bar that seems to have nothing special other than pleasant atmosphere and decoration in the Las Letras district, although they do prepare delicious hummus with picos and regañás (hard and soft bread).

The tapas route is a fantastic alternative if you are in Madrid during these dates. Many of the bars that joined this initiative are close to the Puerta del Sol, next to where is our hotel.
