One of the most interesting activities for guests at the prestigious Quatro Hotel in Puerta del Sol is a visit to Lope de Vega’s House-Museum, only a few minutes on foot from the hotel.

This museum is situated in Calle Cervantes, 11 and it is open from Tuesday to Sunday only in the mornings from 10am to 3pm.

Admission is free and visitors can join a group and have a guided visit of the museum. These guided tours are carried out in three different languages, Spanish, English and French and they last about 45 minutes. They start every 30 minutes and groups are no more than 10 people.

Currently Lope de Vega’s house is protected as a Cultural Heritage Monument. The poet and script writer bought this house in 1610 and lived here for the last 25 years of his life, until his death in 1635.

The house is sponsored by the Spanish Royal Academy of Language (Real Academia de la Lengua Española). Inside the house visitors will have the chance to see manuscripts, documents and pieces of art that belonged to this great author of the Golden Age of Spanish letters.
