They are on a disused railroad but they are real treasures. The value of these old train engines is two-fold: historical because they come from our past and cultural because they teach us about how our ancestors travelled in the past.

The Railroad Museum in Madrid (Museo del Ferrocarril) is truly a treasure chest and something to cherish. It is a temple for those who love trains.

This museum is situated in Paseo de las Delicias, number 61. It opens from Tuesdays to Sundays and from 10am to 3pm. It is closed on Mondays.

The ticket price is 5 Euros, but there is a special discount for students, children of 4-12 years of age and for senior citizens, their tickets are only 3.50 Euros; and on Saturdays there is a special reduced ticket price of just 1 Euro.

The exhibition is divided off in different sections to help visitors to navigate through the different areas. The most attractive one is without a doubt the traction exhibit, where visitors will be able to see more than 30 train engines of different years and with different types of mechanical design.

Another interesting area of the museum is the models’ room where you will find model trains, train stations and other elements from the world of trains.
